Cellulite 101 – Causes, Treatment, Prevention
What is it really?
Cellulite is simply some bumps that are caused by fat deposits under the skin that cause it to look dimpled. Ideally it should not cause any worry because it’s not a life threatening condition, but the in these days where image is everything many women are concerned specifically for cosmetic reasons. Women have a light skin and fat is arranged in chambers which are separated by collagen fibers. As people age too much fat is put in these chambers causing the fibers to shrink and thicken and so it ends up pulling the skin downward. This becomes more manifest in areas like buttocks, thighs and hips.
And so what are the causes?
The condition which has earned the nickname orange peel skin is caused by little pockets of fat under your skin that are simply overfilled. Because these fat cells are enlarged they end up taking up more space between the skin’s connective tissues causing the fat to expand the spaces in the overlying skin to cave in.
Can I know when I have cellulite?
Today there are high-tech procedures that can be used to determine whether one has the cheese skin condition that use ultrasound and Electrical impedance but then there are other simpler do it your self procedures that will cost you nothing. There is a simple pinch and roll technique that is simple to do and follow that any woman can manage. Use your fingers to pinch a fold of skin in an area that never develops cellulite then pinch the skin using the same procedure in the buttock, thigh or hip areas and do a comparison. The telltale signs include skin thickening, broken veins, dimpling, lumpiness and cold skin.
Prevention and treatment
