Baby Eczema

Is It A Rash Or Is It Baby Acne Eczema?

You have moved away from your mom and your a new mother.  You can’t afford to call her every time your little one gets a fever or a rash but… this one is really worrying you. Baby has always had dry skin but now he has a red and irritated rash on his face. Do you need to be concerned and could it be baby acne eczema?

What Does it Actually Look Like?

Baby acne eczema is more common than you may realise and it is both harmless and short-lived, often clearing up quickly and without treatment. More frustrating for both parent and child is eczema.  You need to be able to establish the difference between baby acne eczema and a common heat rash, for example. You also need to know the difference between baby acne eczema and an allergic reaction to a particular food and you can’t keep running to the doctor.  If allergies run in your family and your baby is prone to dry skin that is easily irritated, chances are your baby is going to suffer from baby acne eczema. If this is the case you’re going to need to learn a little about baby eczema care.

Aside from that red, raised rash on his face, your baby will probably have patches of rough, dry skin scattered around his body. Some of these dry, scaly areas will flare up and become more irritated. Baby acne eczema usually shows up in skin creases: inside the elbows, on the back of the knees, in the folds of the neck and even on the wrists and hands and feet. Rest assured though, baby eczema doesn’t effect the area covered by your baby’s diaper and any rash in that region will more than likely be nappy rash.
